University Of Michigan Rotten to the Core
U of M has foregone all virtues and has become rotten to the core
What we've established
U of M has moved forward with the Data Center after severe Backlash.
U of M has supported or covered up multiple illegal acts in its football program
U of M has created an unsafe campus environment by allowing violent students on campus
U of M has 3 very recent events that show a significant departure from being a moral institution. This is very important because the university has a significant amount of power, privilege and Immunity that could be incredibly harmful if inappropriately used
The Football Scandals
No I am not talking about paying athletes under the table or cheating in the field of play. Those items are serious but the true moral decay comes from far greater sins. Dr Robert Anderson had 1050 victims. Dr. Anderson had over Double Larry Nasser's victims. You had coaching staff (and may continue to have coaching staff) that had inappropriate photos and videos of students. You had a coach that attacked a woman and then got the case thrown out on a technicality. These are issues of moral rot. This is a total giving in to hedonism and one’s vices. Keep in mind that U of M has many benefits like not having to pay property taxes that other entities do not get.
The Temulun Conservative Assault
Temulun Togochog slapped Joe Redden then pushed Liz Benichou down to the ground. Temulun then tried to stomp on Liz but was held back by another person. Then the police had to wrestle her down and Temulun still resisted arrest while also making death threats. The prosecutors office played catch and release with her. Both the U of M and MLive have downplayed the incident calling it just a push. U of M sent a letter to Temulun but has not expelled her. Temulun violently assaulted someone practicing their 1st amendment on a Public University Campus. Now there are rumors that U of M has asked for people to remove video of the incident. All of this again shows heavy moral decay.
The Los Alamos Data Center
This is where we can see the real issue with a corrupted institution holding so much power. Los Alamos is a company known most for the creation of the A-bomb in WW2. U of M partnered with this company to create a data center that seemingly no one in the community wants. U of M is only a 10% owner but that still takes the whole property off the tax rolls. U of M held open houses where they talked down to residents like they were children. With U of M being such a low percentage owner it looks more like a money laundering scheme than anything else. Also the placement of being right on the Huron River is problematic and dangerous.
These are three recent events (or ongoing) that show how far the University has fallen. U of M has sacrificed all of its morals and virtues for money and Glory. We cannot have an institution with so much power, privilege, and immunity acting like this. I know It is hard to look at a former hero and declare them the villain. With everything that has happened is U of M Rotten to the Core?
